GOLD for Chloe at the Southend International on Saturday
25th Oct. On her way she threw a senior brown belt for ippon in 7 seconds and threw a blue belt all over the place
before pinning her. Also well done to her training partner Ryan who won the senior blue belt and under, winning all
his fights by ippon, not bad for a 15 year old against a load of seniors. Also well done to his brother Adam for
getting bronze

British Schools Judo Championships (Sheffield) March 2014
Saturday
8th
March saw 525 aspiring Judo players enter the British Schools Judo championships in Sheffield. Ryan Burt, a year 10
pupil, represented Northolt High School in the Under 60 kilos section and fought his way through his group of 18 to
gain a Bronze medal. He dominated and threw all of his opponents and narrowly missed out on a place in the final by
getting armlocked. His coach Kevin Chamberlain said “he was winning the fight but made a silly mistake and got
punished for it. He fought really well and, although only a junior Blue Belt, beat a Senior Brown belt to get the
Bronze medal”.
Ryan trains 5 or 6 nights a week at Judo as well as supplementing this with gym work. His main club is Grange Judo
club based at the Hayes Rugby club in Kingshill Avenue. Judo is an Olympic sport and excellent for fitness,
discipline and self defence. Call Mike Gingell for more information on 07802 425711
British Schools Judo Championships (Sheffield) March 2013
Saturday 9th March saw 525 of the best junior judo players from across the country compete in the prestigious
British Schools Judo Championships in Sheffield. Academic years between 6 and 13 took part across a number of
weight categories, and an overall schools trophy was awarded on the day.
Grange Judo Club had two of its members competing and both picked up medals on the day: Chloe Chamberlain
(representing Swakeleys School) and Ryan Burt (representing Northolt High School), both Green belts from year 9.
Chloe competed in the under 63 kilos category and Ryan in the under 60 kilos. Chloe brought home Gold for the
second year in a row, beating a blue belt in the final and Ryan brought home Bronze in one of the most toughly
contested categories.
Their coach Kevin Chamberlain said “Chloe did very well to retain her title of British Schools Champion from last
year and Ryan fought his socks off to gain his first national level medal. I am very proud of both of
them
London Youth Games (Crystal Palace)July 2012
Chloe Chamberlain and Jack O'Reilly both represented Hillingdon in what was a very tough competition. Jack and
Chloe both took home Bronze medals and Chloe also took home a Silver for the girls team event as the girls
team finished 2nd out of 25 London Boroughs.
British Schools Judo Championships (Sheffield) March 2012
One of our members, Chloe Chamberlain, took part in the British Schools Judo Championships in Sheffield
on 26th March. There were over 450 competitors taking part in this event from all over the UK. Chloe did
extremely well and took the Bronze medal in her weight group. Chloe, who goes to Swakeleys Girls School, was the
only competitor from Hillingdon.
Hillingdon Christmas Competition (Chalfont & Evreham Judokwai) December 2011
Unfortunatley only three members of the club took part in the annual Hillingdon Christmas Competition this year. It
was hosted by the Chalfont & Evreham Judokwai who won it last year. Despite the weather it was a fairly good
turnout, and our small team did very well. Results as follows: Chloe Chamberlain - Gold, Ryan Burt - Gold and
Thomas Chaves - O'Reilly - Bronze. Well done to all of you, you did us proud again. The overall team winner this
year was................. Grange Judo Club, so well done again. Commiserations
must go to Jack O'Reilly who had to pull out at the last minute as he cut his eye open at school. Who said Judo is
a dangerous sport!!!
Thanks also to the parents who bravely ventured out, dispite the snow, to get them there, and also to Eric and
Kevin for helping out.
Three members of Grange Judo Club took part in a competition on the 20th June at Worthing. They all did
extremely well with Thomas Chavez-O'Reilly taking Gold in his weight group, Ryan Burt taking Silver in his group
and Jamie Perez taking Bronze in his group. Well done to all of you.

Grange Judo Club gave a display at the Hayes Park Schools Summer Fete on Satuday 19th June 2013 (sorry about the
date on the camara!). The students, mostly from the school, showed that they have learnt. This included
throwing techniques as well as a bit of randori (free fighting). At the end there was also a short demonstration of
Iaido, which is the Japanese art of drawing and cutting with a sword. This was done by the two instructors, Mike
& Graham. Some of the photo's are below.
